Birding 101 at Caw Caw

A bilingual outdoor learning experience focused on bird observation, habitat awareness, marsh ecosystems, and environmental stewardship through guided exploration at Caw Caw Interpretive Center.

Experience Overview

Participants explore the unique ecosystems of Caw Caw Interpretive Center through guided bird observation, habitat exploration, and environmental education. Families and youth learn how birds interact with marshes, forests, and freshwater environments while developing observation and conservation skills.

About This Experience

• Participants explored the diverse ecosystems of Caw Caw Interpretive Center through a bilingual outdoor environmental learning experience guided by educators and natural resource professionals.

• During the experience, participants learned about bird observation techniques, marsh habitats, forest ecosystems, biodiversity, and the importance of protecting South Carolina’s natural environments.

 

• Educational activities included guided birdwatching, habitat exploration, listening to bird calls, wildlife identification, and discussions about ecosystem conservation and environmental stewardship.

 

• Participants also explored the historical importance of South Carolina rice fields

and how different habitats support native bird species and local wildlife populations.
